xPrize is a very unique non-profit that creates contests with a mission to bring about radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity. They've partnered with companies like Google, agencies like NASA, and have a Board of Trustees boasting names like James Cameron, Larry Page, Elon Musk and Arianna Huffington, to create several high profile contests. xPrize joined forces with Disney to create a contest for kids, powered by Disney's Tomorrowland. That's where Weberous came in
xPrize came to us to create the Tomorrowland contest website, and they explained that they needed to allow parents to sign up, have them go through a verification process to grant their consent, and then kids should able to submit video, photo, and/or text entries for consideration in the contest. The site would also need to be fully responsive so that it loads fast and works well on all devices.
On the surface, we worked with the creative team of xPrize and Disney, and created a versatile website that works on devices across the board. Behind the scenes, we tackled the parent content by integrating a system that verified the parents’ identity, and then activated their child’s account so that they submit their entry. We then converted all video entries through Zencoder to multiple formats to ensure compatibility, and we compressed all photos to speed up the load time. All video media was stored externally on Amazon’s S3 servers which allowed for a smoother, and faster video streaming of the entries.
Thank you Rafael and Mario for all your help making this a huge success. It looks fantastic!!xPrize
